Abstract
1415280 Continuous cooling apparatus HOOGOVENS IJMUIDEN BV 3 June 1974 [4 June 1973] 24411/74 Heading C7N Bar, rod or wire is passed continuously through a channel or tube supplied with water through inlets in its vertical side walls, the ends of the water body in the vessel being formed by downwardly directed high-pressure water jets. As particularly described channel 5 is supplied through manifold #23 and inlets 8, the quench bath being contained between inwardly inclined jets 13, 14, 15, 16 which discharge through slots 17, 18, 19, 21, 22. One or more of these cooling units may be installed immediately after a shear in the run out table of the rolling mill.
