Abstract

The bar is guided and supported along its length and rolls are provided on the width. These rolls are arranged just below the ingot mould, up to a distance from the casting level corresponding to 1.5-3 times the length of the mould. The rolls can slide transversely to the bar driven by hydraulic devices or springs, and they are thrust against the bar with a force which, measured in kg equals one or two times the square of the bar's thickness measured in cm.
