Abstract

1437367 Continuous casting SOUTHWIRE CO 5 July 1973 [5 Oct 1972] 32027/73 Heading B3F In a casting wheel 30 of a wheel-and-belt machine having a peripheral groove defined by two side walls and a bottom wall, and constructed of steel, at least an upper section of each of the side walls is inclined at a draft angle α to the radial direction of the wheel in the range of 11¢ to 14¢ degrees. Upper and lower sections of each wall may be inclined at different angles, the upper having a draft angle of 11¢ to 14¢ degrees and the lower an angle of 9¢ degrees. After casting a copper bar, it is hot-rolled to form rod. The draft angle a before pouring is less than 14¢ degrees and exceeds by 2 to 5 degrees the angle α (not less than 9¢ degrees) after solidification of the copper.
