Abstract

This disclosure relates to improvements in the casting groove on the periphery of an open casting wheel. The groove is formed with a draft angle in the range of 11-1/2 DEG to 14-1/2 DEG which results in an average increase in casting wheel life of more than 50 percent over prior art casting wheels.
