Description

538 129 Another object of the present invention is to provide a system for securing safe departure of a bus from a bus stop from a standstill of the bus involving an initial change of |atera| position of the bus which reduces risk for an accident involving an approaching vehicle.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION These and other objects, apparent from the following description, are achieved by a method, a system, a bus, a computer program and a computer program product, which are of the type stated by way of introduction and which in addition exhibits the features recited in the characterising clause of the appended independent claims. Preferred embodiments of the method and the system are defined in appended dependent claims.
Specifically an object of the invention is achieved by a method for securing safe departure of a bus from a bus stop from a standstill of the bus, said departure comprising an initial change of |atera| position, comprising the step of determining whether any other vehicle is approaching constituting a hazard regarding said change of |atera| position, characterized by the steps of establishing contact with an approaching vehicle within a vehicle-to-vehicle communication arrangement provided that such an arrangement is available; and, if such an arrangement is available, communicating information about the intention of the departure comprising an initial change of |atera| position; or, if such an arrangement is not available, activating a warning comprising the step of generating a projection on the ground by illumination disclosing the intended change of |atera| position associated with said departure.
Hereby the risk for an accident involving an approaching vehicle is reduced in that it is secured that the approaching vehicle gets the information, if possible via vehicle-to-vehicle communication e.g. on a display and/or via an alarm/a voice, but if this possibility does not exist, i.e. if the approaching vehicle and/or the bus is not equipped with such a communication arrangement, the 10 15 20 25 30 538 129 driver of the approaching vehicle will still receive a warning through the projection by iilumination of the Iane which is a very efficient way of getting the attention of the driver.
According to an embodiment the method further comprises the steps of determining whether said approaching vehicle has perceived said information about the intention of the departure and is acting accordingly by giving way to the departing bus, and, if not, activate an emergency brake arrangement of the approaching vehicle and/or the bus in order to prevent an accident.
Hereby the risk for an accident involving the approaching vehicle is further reduced and can thus be avoided even if the driver does not react to the warning.
According to an embodiment the method further comprises the step of determining if legal conditions for approaching vehicles to give way for the departing bus exist, and, if said vehicle-to-vehicle communication arrangement is available, the step of communicating information about the intention of the departure comprising an initial change of lateral position comprises information about the obligation of giving way for the departing bus, and if said vehicle-to-vehicle communication arrangement is not available, the step of activating a warning comprising the step of generating a projection on the ground by iilumination disclosing the intended change of lateral position associated with said departure comprises an instruction to give way to the bus. Hereby the risk for an accident involving an approaching vehicle is reduced in that it is secured that the approaching vehicle gets the information including the legal conditions, if possible via vehicle-to-vehicle communication e.g. on a display and/or via an alarm/a voice, but if this possibility does not exist, i.e. if the approaching vehicle and/or the bus is not equipped with such a communication arrangement, the driver of the approaching vehicle will still receive a warning including information about the legal conditions through the projection by iilumination of the Iane which is a very efficient way of getting the attention of the driver. 10 15 20 538 129 According to an embodiment of the method the step of activating an emergency brake arrangement is applied to the approaching vehicle if legal conditions for approaching vehicles to give way for the departing bus exist.
Hereby the risk for an accident involving the approaching vehicle is further reduced and can thus be avoided even if the driver does not react to the warning.
Specifically an object of the invention is achieved by a system for securing safe departure of a bus from a bus stop from a standstill of the bus according to independent system claim 5.
The system further comprises the embodiments according to the dependent system claims 6-9.
The system according to the invention has the advantages according to the corresponding method claims.
