Abstract

1,184,172. Sealing carton closure flaps. KEYOLOK CO. Inc. 23 Feb., 1967 [3 March, 1966; 18 July, 1966; 21 July, 1966; 10 Aug., 1966], Nos. 9315/66, 32186/66, 32758/66 and 35704/66. Heading B8C. A method of sealing the end of a rectangular carton comprises the following stages. Between A and B the outer flaps 14, 16 are folded back and dust flaps 22, 24 are folded in. Between B and C glue 30 is applied to flaps 14, 16 with an extra-thick layer 32 of glue or other plastic material near the fold lines. Between C and D flaps 14, 16 are folded into position in turn. Between D and E tapered strips 38 apply pressure to walls 10, 12 just below the flaps to prevent flaps 22, 24 curling inwards and with presser block 40 or rollers to hold the flaps together and force layer 32 to seal the appropriate flap edges to walls 10, 12. The guide rails or strips 38 may be coated with a plastics lubricant Specification 1,184,175 is referred to.
