presente invento refere-se a artigos absor ventes descartáveis, e mais particularmente a artigos absorventes descartáveis que têm um forro para isolar material fecal da pele do utente.
Várias tentativas dentro da técnica relacionada com artigos absorventes descartáveis têm sido fe_i tas para isolar o resíduo do utente. 0 material fecal que repousa contra a pele é muitas vezes uma fonte de irritação epidérmica e torna a limpeza do utente mais difícil.
Uma tentativa está descrita na patente norte— -americana N?.2.690.749 concedida a Nelson, em 5 de Ou tubro de 1954, que revela uma fralda que tem reentrâncias separadas para receber a urina e o material fecal sólido. A patente norte-americana N?.2.004.088 concedi da a Alsop, em 11 de Junho de 1935 descreve uma almofa da absorvente que tem uma abertura grande. Contudo, ne nhuma referência ensina um meio de evitar que os materiais contactem a pele do utente.
A patente norte—americana N?. 3.532.093 concedida a Lovret, em 6 de Outubro de 1970, descreve uma

fralda que tem compartimentos separados para a recolha de urina e material fecal. Todavia, esta fralda não tem um núcleo absorvente e deveria portanto ser um tan to desconfortável para o utente.
Uma tentativa para resolver estes problemas é revelada na patente norte-americana N?. 4.662.877 concedida a Williams, em 5 de Maio de 1987, que descre ve uma fralda que tem uma folha não elástica de cobertura impermeável a urina com uma abertura para permitir que os materiais residuais passem através da folha de cobertura para a porção absorvente da fralda. Williams ensina a aplicação de fios elásticos orientados longitudinalmente sobre ambos os lados da abertura.
Constitui um objecto do presente invento obviar aos problemas acima mencionados relacionados com materiais fecais que repousam contra a pele do utente de uni artigo absorvente descartável.

A fralda aqui descrita é adequada para crian ças em ambos os sexos com o peso aproximado de 5K& a aproximadamente HKg. Deve compreender-se que vários tamanhos de utentes poderão usar a fralda do presente invento, desde que a mesma seja apropriadamente escalonada para o tamanho do utente.
A Figura 1 é uma vista de topo em planta de uma fralda 10 não dobrada e planificada, que tem componentes básicos típicos de um tal artigo absorvente, compreendendo um forro elástico 12, uma folha inferior 14 e um núcleo absorvente 18.
A fralda 10 compreende uma estrutura lamina da que tem geralmente a forma de vidro de relógio quando na posição plana, não dobrada. A fralda 10 é geralmente simétrica em torno de um eixo longitudinal orientado a partir da frente para as costas da fralda 10, eixo esse que está geralmente alinhado com a dire^ cção da máquina da fralda 10 durante o fabrico. Um ei_ xo transversal é ortogonal em relação ao eixo longitu dinal da fralda 10, e cruza o seu eixo longitudinal em ou próximo do ponto médio da fralda 10. Como aqui utilizadas, as porções anterior e posterior da fralda 10 são definidas por e estão alinhadas com o eixo transversal e são geralmente as porções da fralda 10 dispostas à frente e nas costas desta como observada pelo utente.

Se fôr escolhido o tecido Kanebo, o forro 12 pode vantajosamente ter cerca de 75 a cerca de 100# de alongamento no estado não contraído e funciona bem na fralda 10 acima descrita. Se fôr escolhido o nylon tricotado, o forro 12 pode vantajosamente ter cerca de 110 por cento de alongamento no estado não contraí do .
Como é do conhecimento dos entendidos na tjá cnica, tanto os materiais não tecidos de fibra elasfó mérica como os materiais tricotados de fibra não elás^ tica proporcionam elasticidade, atingindo-a contudo de maneiras diferentes. Sem limitar o invento a qualquer teoria de operação, é conhecido que no primeiro caso a elasticidade é conseguida através do esticamen to de fibras elastoméricas, enquanto que no último ca so as fibras são tricotadas para se conseguir a elasticidade. É ainda reconhecido que qualquer tipo de ma terial está disponível com elasticidade biaxial ou uniaxial. Um eixo principal de elasticidade é de prefe rencia orientado de maneira geralmente paralela ao ei^ xo longitudinal da fralda 10.

Associada ao forro 12 está uma passagem 22 que permite a comunicação de materiais residuais, incluindo, nomeadamente mas não estando limitado a eles, materiais fecais sólidos, através do forro 12 e para dentro da região do núcleo absorvente 18, isolando assim os materiais da pele do utente. Numa forma de realização preferida, a passagem 22 toma a forma de uma abertura. Como aqui utilizado, o termo passagem si gnifica qualquer abertura que é suficiente para permi tir que o material fecal passe através do forro 12 sem obstrução significativa. Como aqui utilizado o termo abertura inclui, mas não está a eles limitado, furos, fendas e combinações dos mesmos. De preferência a aber tura é um furo oblongo que tem uma forma duplamente convexa.

O reduzido forro 12 da segunda forma de rea lização proporciona de preferência o espaço vazio 28 em posição intermédia ao forro 12 e núcleo 18, como ilustrado na Figura 2.Nesta forma de realização, devi^ do à ausência do meio elástico para contrair longitudinalmente o forro 12 e tornar o mesmo conforme um tanto mais apertadamente à pele do utente, é mais desejável que um ajustamento apropriado e confortável do mesmo seja conseguido e mantido.
Numa terceira forma de realização ilustrada pela Figura 3» é proporcionado um forro 12 elástico impermeável à urina. 0 forro é de preferência fabrica do de qualquer material conhecido da técnica, e com as caracteristicas e propriedades físicas acima descri tas. Um material adequado é o tecido elástico que tem fibras não elásticas revelado na patente norte-americana N?. 4.107.364, concedida a Sissan, em 15 de Agosto de 1978j e aqui incorporada como referência.
Um forro 12, tendo um alongamento de cerca de 25 por cento no estado não contraído, funciona bem. Alterna tivamente, um forro 12 de tecido Kanebo, acima descri to, tendo um peso de base que varia de cerca de 75 a z z % cerca de 100 g por m e impermeável a urina, e funcio na bem com um alongamento de cerca de 5θ a cerca de 75 por cento no estado não contraído.
Para obviar que a urina seja interceptada e retida contra a pele pelo revestimento 12, é proporcionada uma maior passagem 22, para acomodar os orgãos genitais e ao mesmo tempo permitir que a urina comunique com o núcleo 18. Para a forma de realização aqui descrita, uma abertura convexamente rectangular tendo uma dimensão longitudinal máxima de cerca de 12 a cerca de 23 cm e uma dimensão transversal de cerca de 6 a cerca de lOcm é adequada, sendo preferida uma

dimensão longitudinal de cerca de 18 cm e uma dimensão transversal de cerca de 8 cm. Para posicionar o bordo frontal da passagem 22 externamente aos orgãos genitais, o furo está longitudinalmente desalinhado da par te frontal da fralda 10. Um desalinhamento longitudinal de cerca de 1,6 cm na direcção da parte da frente da fralda 10 é adequado para a forma de realização aqui descrita.
Outras variações de acordo com as fraldas descritas acima podem ser vantajosamente utilizadas com qualquer das formas de realização seguintes. Por exemplo, pode ser utilizado um forro 12 permeável à uri. na que tem painéis de diferentes materiais, incluindo painéis elásticos e não elásticos dos materiais acima descritos.
Especificamente, como está representado na Figura 4, pode ser utilizado um forro 12 tendo painéis anterior e posterior 30 fabricados de material elástico, e uma tri-secção 32 não elástica longitudinalmente centrada, intermédia e adjacente aos painéis elásticos 30 e rodeando a passagem 22. Esta variante proporciona a vantagem de que o painel 32 do forro não elástico adjacente à passagem 22 pode ser um tanto apertado, como descrito em seguida, para manter a pa£ -sagem 22 numa posição de aberta enquanto a fralda 10 está em uso. Contudo, como está representado, para o forro 12 da fralda ilustrada na Figura 4 não é necessário que qualquer tri-secção tenha uma área ou um comprimento equivalente aos de qualquer outra tri-secção ou ser simétrica em torno de qualquer dos eixos. Em alternativa, como está ilustrado na Figura 5» pode ser utilizado um forro 12 tendo uma tri-secção 34 elást£ ca transversalmente centrada com os painéis laterais 36 adjacentes não elásticos. Esta disposição proporciona a vantagem, acima descrita, de a passagem 22 ser longitudinalmente esticada pela colocação do pai nel elástico 34. 0 forro 12 da fralda oposto diametralmente ao representado na Figura 5 verificou-se ter um bom funcionamento para crianças do sexo feminino. Um tal forro 12 tem uma tri-secção não elástica transversalmente centrada e intermédia e painéis laterais 36 elásticos adjacentes. Como está represen tado e descrito relativamente à Figura 4, não é neces -sário que qualquer uraà tri—secção da fralda 10 ilustrada na Figura 5 tenha uma área ou um comprimento equivalentes às das tri-secções indicadas ou seja simétricas em torno de qualquer eixo.
Ainda uma outra alternativa ilustrada pela Figura 6, pode ser utilizada vantajosamente uma fraj. da 10 tendo um painel 40 anteilor (ou posterior) elás^ tico, desalinhado longitudinalmente da passagem 22 e que pode ou não rodear esta e um painel 40 posterior (ou anterior). Uma tal variante proporciona a vantagem de a fralda 10 poder ser fabricada para selectivamente se conformar mais apertadamente a ambas as nádegas ou orgãos genitais do utente. Todas estas va riações, incluindo as que proporcionam assimetria em torno de um ou de ambos os eixos, são contempladas para estarem compreendidas no âmbito do presente in—

Como acima descrito, os painéis elásticos e não elásticos podem ser unidos por quaisquer meios normalmente conhecidos dos entendidos na técnica, in eluindo a fixação por meio de adesivo, vedação térnri ca, e soldadura ultrassónica. É preferível que a jun ção dos painéis adjacentes não tenha uma costura a qual friccionaria e irritaria a pele do utente.
Será evidente para um entendido na técnica que outros tamanhos e formas das aberturas da passagem 22 são possíveis para permitir que os materiais residuais passem através do forro 12. Por exemplo, é adequada uma abertura em forma de diamante com as d_i mensões anteriormente mencionadas e tendo os cantos orientados nas direcções longitudinal e transversal. Pode também ser utilizada uma abertura igual a uma fenda, tendo uma dimensão longitudinal que varia entre 4,0 cm a cerca de 6 cm e uma dimensão transversal de cerca de 0,5 cm.
Se a fralda 10 destinar-se a ser escalonada para uma criança maior, poderá ser desejável uma passagem 22 mais larga, disposta mais próximo da parte posterior daquela. Todas estas passagens 22 estão dentro do âm bito do invento.
Caso se deseje, a porção do forro 12 próxima da passagem 22 pode ser reforçada para evitar o rompimento ou o enrugamento. 0 reforço pode ser realizado proporcionando uma espessura dupla do material do forro 12 numa fita adjacente e concêntrica da passagem 22 e tendo uma dimensão radial de cerca de 1,0 a cerca de 2,0 cm.
Alternativamente, a passagem 22 pode ser elasticizada de tal modo que a mesma fique mais pequena até que o material fecal passe através dela.

A elasticização pode ser proporcionada circunscrevendo a passagem 22 com um fio elástico. Como aqui utili zado, um fio elástico pode ter qualquer secção transversal e ser substancialmente maior em comprimento que a dimensão transversal. São adequados fios elásti^ cos tendo uma secção transversal geralmente rectangular, sem tensão, variando de cerca de 2,4 a 6,4 mm por cerca de 0,2 mm, um módulo elástico de 125.000 Kg 2 por m a cerca de 100 por aproximadamente 200 por cento de alongamento. Os fios elásticos podem vantajosamente ter cerca de 5θ a 100 por cento de alongamento no estado não contraído, sendo geralmente preferidos alongamentos mais elevados para furos de maior circun ferência. Fios Fulflex 9411 fabricados pela Fulflex Company, de Scotland Neck, Carolina do Norte, mostraram ser muito adequados.
Caso se deseje, um meio de contracção trans versai pode ser incorporado no forro 12 de qualquer das formas de realização anteriormente descritas, por exemplo orientando um eixo principal de contracção elástica segundo qualquer orientação não longitudinal. Este método é viável tanto para materiais biaxialmente elásticos como para materiais uniaxialmente elásti^ cos.
A amplitude da contracção transversal não é crítica, mas pode ser utilizada para geralmente neutralizar qualquer estrangulamento que ocorra devido à contracção longitudinal. Se for utilizado um nylon tricotado tendo um alongamento longitudinal não contraído de cerca de 110 por cento, um aumento da contracção transversal de cerca de 10 por cento nos bor dos transversais do forro 12, até cerca de 190 por cento no centro do mesmo, mostrou funcionar bem.
