Abstract

Referida a un proceso para refinar un etilenglicol no derivado del petroleo, en donde uno, dos o mas de compuestos de alcohol oleofilico C5-C20, alcanos C5-C20 y compuestos de cetona oleofilica C4-C20 se someten a azeotropismo como un agente azeotropico junto con el etilenglicol no derivado del petroleo para obtener un azeotropo que contiene etilenglicol, luego se agrega agua para disolver el etilenglicol en el azeotropo, el agente azeotropico insoluble en agua se separa de la solucion acuosa de etilenglicol y se obtiene etilenglicol de la deshidratacion y refinacion de la solucion acuosa de etilenglicol resultante, en donde el etilenglicol no derivado del petroleo comprende, pero no se limita a, etilenglicol, butanodiol (preferentemente 1,2-butanodiol), pentanodiol (preferentemente 1,2- pentanodiol) y hexanodiol (preferentemente 1,2-hexanodiol).
