Abstract
La invención proporciona un proceso para refinar etilenglicol no derivado del petróleo, en el que se separan las impurezas que tienen un punto de ebullición cercano al del etilenglicol. En donde los compuestos de alcohol C5-C20, los alcanos C5-C20 y/o los compuestos de cetona oleofilica C4-C20 se someten a azeotropismo como un agente azeotrópico junto con el etilenglicol. Luego se separa el agente azeotrópico para obtener un producto crudo de etilenglicol que se purifica.
