Abstract
Un sistema y un proceso respetuoso con el medio ambiente (por ejemplo, sin acido, base o cianuro) para la extraccion a gran escala de iones metalicos en sales fundidas aerobias (o liquidos ionicos) y la electrodeposicion de metales (cobre, oro, plata, etc.) a partir del ion metalico disuelto en la sal fundida. La sal liquida no volatil de baja presion de vapor es reutilizable y el calor de la escoria fundida puede calentar las sales fundidas o los liquidos ionicos. Otra realizacion comprende un aparato de un solo reactor para la extraccion de metal (por ejemplo, cobre) a partir de tierras metalicas y electrodeposicion de metales usando una sal de cloruro de Na-K-Zn aireada de bajo punto de fusion (209 °C), en la que el metal de cobre se oxida y se convierte en cloruro de cobre soluble. Cuando se conecta una fuente de energia electrica al recipiente de grafito (catodo) ya las barras de cobre en la fusion (anodos), el cloruro de cobre se deposita como cobre metalico por electro reduccion en el fondo del recipiente de reaccion de grafito
