SE REFIERE A UN MATERIAL DE BLINDAJE QUE RESISTE LA RADIACION NUCLEAR Y LAS ALTAS TEMPERATURAS Y ES ESPECIALMENTE APROPIADO PARA LA INCLUSION DE MATERIALES RESIDUALES RADIOACTIVOS PARA SU INMOVILIZACION. EL MATERIAL ES UNA MEZCLA QUE COMPRENDE DOS O MAS POLIMEROS ORGANICOS EN LOS CUALES LAS CARGAS INCLUIDAS ESTAN ENTRECRUZADAS DENTRO DE LAS CADENAS LATERALES FENILICAS DE LOS POLIMEROS Y COPOLIMEROS. OTRAS CARGAS PROPORCIONAN BLINDAJE RADIACTIVO Y PUEDEN SER INCLUIDAS DENTRO DE LA MATRIZ ENTRECRUZADA. EL MATERIAL CONTIENE UNA MATRIZ RESISTENTE E INCLUYE PARTICULAS DE SUSTANCIAS QUE POSEEN PROPIEDADES DE BLINDAJE PARA LA RADIACION Y MATERIALES CONDUCTORES DEL CALOR CON PROPIEDADES GLOBALES SIMILARES A LA CERAMICA O A MATERIALES CERAMICO-MATALICOS. EL MATERIAL ES TERMOENDURECIBLE Y PUEDE PRESENTARSE COMO UN MATERIAL EXTREMADAMENTE DURO (20 000 psi DE ESFUERZO DE CORTE). EL MATERIAL COMPRENDE ADEMAS UNA MEZCLA DE GOMA VULCANIZADA Y/O POLIMEROS SIMILARES A LA GOMA, VARIAS INCLUSIONES PARA EL BLINDAJE DE LA RADIACION, RESINA DE POLIIMIDA Y RESINA FENOL FORMALDEHIDO. LUEGO DE MEZCLARSE EN LAS PROPORCIONES ADECUADAS EL MATERIAL CURA A UNA TEMPERATURA ELEVADA (260°C ).
