Abstract

Tung hydrokarbonolj e inneholdende asfalten-, svovel- og metallforurens- ninger hydrogenbehandles i nærvær av en hydrogenbehandlingskatalysator med en liten porediameter i et første prosess- trinn for å fjerne svovel- og metall- forurensninger. Fjerning av ytterligere metall- og svovelforurensninger utføres deretter i et annet prosesstrinn ved oppløsningsmi-ddel-avasfaltering, idet størrelsen av porediameteren av den hydrogenbehandlingskatalysator som anvendes i det opprinnelige hydrogen- behandlingstrinn påvirker fjerningen av metaller i det etterfølgende oppløsnings- middel-avasfalteringstrinn. I et tredje prosesstrinn blir den avasfalterte olje krakket katalytisk stort sett i fravær av tilsatt hydrogen for å gi laverekokende hydrokarbonprodukter.
