ACEITE DE HIDROCARBONO PESADO, CONTENIENDO ASFALTENO, SULFURO Y CONTAMINANTES METALICOS, ES HIDROTRATADO EN LA PRESENCIA DE UN CATALIZADOR HIDROTRATANTE, TENIENDO UN DIAMETRO DE PORO PEQUEÑO, EN UNA PRIMERA ETAPA DE PROCESO PARA REMOVER EL SULFURO Y CONTAMINANTES METALICOS. LA SEPARACION DEL METAL ADICIONAL Y CONTAMINANTES DE SULFURO, ES ENTONCES EFECTUADO EN UNA SEGUNDA ETAPA DEL PROCESO, PARA DESASFALTAR MEDIANTE UN DISOLVENTE, DONDE EL TAMAÑO DEL DIAMETRO DEL PORO DEL CATALIZADOR HIDRO-TRATANTE UTILIZADO EN EL PRIMER PASO HIDROTRATANTE, AFECTA EL RECHAZO DE LOS METALES EN EL SIGUIENTE PASO DE DESASFALTAR MEDIANTE UN DISOLVENTE.
