Foreliggende oppfinnelse omhandler et polyanhydrid for fremstilling av begroingshindrende maling som er kjennetegnet ved formelen -(A)a-(B)b-(C)c-, hvor

Oppfinnelsen omhandler videre begroingshindrende maling som inneholder polyanhydridene.
Overflater som er nedsenket i sjøvann begros av marine organismer som grønnalger, brunalger, rur, blåskjell, rørormerog liknende. På marine konstruksjoner som skip, oljeplattformer, bøyer osv. kan denne begroing medføre økt belastning og akselerert korrosjon. På fartøyer vil begroing føre til redusert manøvrerbarhet samt gi økt friksjon som igjen medfører redusert hastighet og økt drivstofforbruk.
For å forhindre avsetning og vekst av slike marine organismer brukes belegg kjent som begroingshindrende malinger. Disse malingene består vanligvis av et filmdannende bindemiddel med eller uten biologisk aktivitet sammen med ulike komponenter som for eksempel pigmenter, fyllstoffer, løsningsmidler og biologisk aktive stoffer.
Av de begroingshindrende malingtypene som har vært i bruk de senere år er selvpolerende begroingshindrende malinger som inneholder organotinnpolymerer blitt anvendt i stor utstrekning. Disse typer maling er for eksempel beskrevet i GB1457590 og GB2152947. Suksessen til de selvpolerende triorganotinnholdige malingene skyldes at organotinnpolymeren i malingoverflaten hydrolyserer i sjøvann og dermed frigjøres triorganotinnforbindelser som er meget effektive biologisk aktive forbindelser. Den gjenværende polymeren på overflaten blir hydrofil og dermed eroderbar slik at den blir selvpolerende. Denne selvpolerende effekten gir kontrollert ut-lekking av den biologisk aktive forbindelsen og bidrar til å gi en jevn overflate som medfører redusert friksjon mellom fartøy (marin konstruksjon) og vann.
Det har i de senere år vært fokusert på miljøeffektene ved bruk av triorganotinnforbindelser. Man har sett at organotinngruppene som frigis ved hydrolyse, spesielt tributyltinn, brytes langsomt ned og det fører til en akkumulering i sedimentene i lokaliserte områder. I tillegg har man sett at noen organismer har vist ekstrem føl-somhet overfor disse forbindelsene, og dette har ført til flere ikke-dødelige effekter som imposex i sneglen Nucella lapillus og økt tykkelse på østers skall som for eksempel hos Crassostrea gigas.
På grunn av dette er organotinnforbindelser pålagt økte restriksjoner med hensyn på bruken av dem. Den Internasjonale Maritime Organisasjonen, IMO, har godkjent en traktat med et globalt forbud mot bruk av organotinnforbindelser som biocid i begroingshindrende maling fra 1. januar 2003.
Som en følge av dette er det utviklet og introdusert flere tinnfrie begroingshindrende systemer. Disse malingene er for eksempel beskrevet i WO8402915, EP646630, EP802243 og WO9606870. Her beskrives selvpolerende begroingshindrende malinger hvor det i stedet for å inkorporere organotinngrupper i den anvendte polymer er inkorporert organosilyl grupper eller organiske syrer bundet til metall-atomer. Karakteristisk også for disse selvpolerende tinnfrie begroingshindrende systemene er at de består av polymerer med hydrolyserbare grupper som sikrer den kontrollerte oppløsningen av polymerene og dermed frigivelse av begroingshindrende biologisk aktive forbindelser.
I W09641841 og W09641842 er beskrevet akrylsyre- eller metakrylsyreestere som angis å hydrolysere i kontakt med sjøvann og dermed gi et selvpolerende system.
Erfaring viser derimot at disse systemene ofte ikke innehar den ønskede hydrolysehastigheten som er nødvendig for å oppnå tilstrekkelig polering og begroingshindrende effekt.
I EP0659848 og EP0608132 beskrives bruk av umettede anhydrider i kopolymerer sammen med akrylsyre- eller metakrylsyreestere i begroingshindrende maling. GB2249791 beskriver begroingshindrende maling som inneholder vinyl polymerer med anhydrid sidegrupper med hydrokarbon eller siloksan endegrupper. EP0561342 beskriver også bruk av vinylpolymerer med anhydrid sidegrupper i begroingshindrende maling.
I JP04139284 beskrives begroingshindrende maling som inneholder anhydrid-polymerer fra enkle uforgrenede disyrer hvor de hydrolyserbare anhydridbindingene ligger i polymerens hovedkjede.
Vi har funnet at bruk av beslektede polymerer av disse, hvor de hydrolyserbare anhydridbindingene ligger i polymerens hovedkjede og polyanhydridene har spesielle strukturer, er egnet til bruk i selvpolerende begroingshindrende belegg. Den foreliggende oppfinnelse skiller seg vesentlig fra tidligere teknologi ved at polymerene inneholder forgreninger, noe som bidrar til økt løselighet. Hydrolysehastighet og polering kan reguleres ved forgreningens struktur og størrelse, hovedkjedens opp-bygging og tettheten av anhydridgruppene. De begroingshindrende egenskapene oppnås ved at polymeren hydrolyserer og polerer og de begroingshindrende biologisk aktive forbindelsene som er blandet inn i malingen frigjøres. Polymerer med tilsvarende strukturer er kjent fra US 4,792,598 som beskriver aromatiske polyanhydrider brukt som biologisk nedbrytbart matrisematerialer for kontrollert frigjøring av medisiner i menneskekroppen. Dette bruksområdet skiller seg vesentlig fra foreliggende oppfinnelse.

Forbindelser som kan benyttes som utgangspunkt for komponent A for fremstilling av bindemidler for begroingshindrende belegg kan være disyrer eller andre syntetisk ekvivalente grupper med hovedkjedestruktur M, som i HOOC-M-COOH, tilsvarende hovedkjedestrukturene i formlene I-lII. Syntetisk ekvivalente grupper kan være disyreklorider, dianhydrider, dialkylestere, trimetylsilylestere av disyrer, natrium-og kaliumsalter av disyrer.
For alkylgruppene i A med strukturer tilsvarende formel I kan Z\ og R<1> være Ci-12 alkyl, foretrukket C1-8 alkyl og spesielt foretrukket C1-5 alkyl, R<2> kan være Ci-e alkylen, foretrukket C1-5 alkylen og R<3> kan være C1-20 alkyl, foretrukket C1.15 alkyl, spesielt foretrukket Cm0 alkyl. For nevnte alkylgrupper i A med strukturer tilsvarende formel II kan R<5> være Ci-8 alkylen, foretrukket C1-5 alkylen. For nevnte alkylgrupper i A med strukturer tilsvarende formel III kan R<6> være C1-12 alkyl, foretrukket Ci-s alkyl og spesielt foretrukket C1-5 alkyl, R<7> kan være Ci-8 alkylen, foretrukket C1.5 alkylen og R<8> kan være C1.20 alkyl, foretrukket Cmo alkyl, spesielt foretrukket C1.5 alkyl. For strukturene I og III kan n være 0 eller et heltall fra 1 til 8, foretrukket er 0 eller et heltall fra 1 til 5, spesielt foretrukket er 0 eller et heltall fra 1 til 2. I en utførelsesform av oppfinnelsen, er polyanhydridet ifølge oppfinnelsen vannuløselig, vanneroderbart og filmdannende.
I et annet aspekt omhandler oppfinnelsen en begroingshindrende maling kjennetegnet av at den inneholder polyanhydrid ifølge oppfinnelsen, sammen med, etter-som det passer, tilsetningsstoffer og hjelpestoffer såsom kobindemidler, pigmenter, løsningsmidler, biocider, bunnsatshemmende midler og stabilisatorer.

Foretrukne eksempler på forbindelser som kan benyttes som utgangspunkt for komponent C for fremstilling av bindemidler for begroingshindrende belegg definert ved strukturen V omfatter: 1,5-pentandiol, 1,6-heksandiol, 1,7-heptandiol, 1,8-oktandiol, 1,9-nonandiol, 1,10-dekandiol, 1,12-dodekandiol, 2-metyl-1,4-butandiol, 3-metyl-1.5- pentandiol, 2,7-dimetyl-2,7-oktandiol, bisfenol A, 4,4'-metylendifenol, 4,4'-etylidendifenol og 4,4'-propylidendifenol.
Polyanhydridene som anvendt for fremstilling av begroingshindrende maling kan fremstilles ved både kondensasjonspolymerisasjon og ved smeltepolymerisasjon. Ved syntese av polyanhydridene ved kondensasjonsreaksjon kondenseres en trimetylsilylester av den ønskede disyre med det ønskede syreklorid ved hjelp av en katalysator. Egnede katalysatorer kan være forbindelser så som kvarternære ammoniumhalider. Ved smeltepolymerisasjon syntetiseres det en prepolymer ved kondensasjon av de ønskede syrefunksjonelle forbindelser og eddiksyreanhydrid. Prepolymeren polymeriseres i smelte ved hjelp av en egnet polymerisasjonskatalysator. Egnede polymerisasjonskatalysatorer kan være forbindelser såsom kadmiumacetat, magnesiumoksid, kalsiumoksid, bariumoksid, kalsiumkarbonat, aluminiumisopropoksid, aluminium-tetr-butoksid, dietylsink og komplekser av dietylsink og hydroksylerte molekyler så som vann.
Polyanhydrider, og spesielt alifatiske polyanhydrider, er kjent for å hydrolysere raskt. Hydrolysen er avhengig av strukturen på polyanhydridene og ved å kombinere alifatiske og aromatiske strukturer er det mulig å styre hydrolysehastigheten og de-graderingen av polymerene. Inkorporering av aromater i polymerkjeden regulerer hydrolysehastigheten og øker systemets mekaniske styrke. Anhydrider av aromatiske disyrer er derimot uløselige i vanlige organiske løsningsmidler. For å oppnå best mulig løselighet, men samtidig unngå for sprø polymersystemer har vi funnet at det er gunstig at polyanhydridene inneholder aromater atskilt av en alkylkjede av en viss lengde. Vårt arbeid viser videre at det oppnås spesielt bra egenskaper når anhydrid-kjeden inneholder to aromater med en forholdsvis kort alkylkjede mellom. Det er videre gunstig at alkylkjeden har en forgrening som gjør at polymeren blir mer fleksi-bel. Forgreningen vil også bidra til forbedret løselighet og redusert viskositet i løs-ning. Sidekjeden eller forgreningen kan videre inneholde forskjellige funksjonelle grupper som ytterligere regulerer egenskapene til polymeren, for eksempel hydrofili-sitet og hvor tilgjengelige anhydridbindingene er for hydrolyse.
En begroingshindrende maling som skal polere er avhengig av at polymeren som benyttes hydrolyserer med en viss hastighet. Poleringen kan dermed reguleres blant annet av polymerstrukturen; ved å variere sammensetningen av aromatisk og alifatisk del i hovedkjeden samt kjedelengde og struktur på alifatisk del i hovedkjede og sidekjede som beskrevet ovenfor. Hydrolysehastigheten og dermed polererings-hastigheten kan videre reguleres av valg av struktur på monomerene polymeren er bygget opp av og mengdeforholdene mellom disse. For polymerene i følge oppfinnelsen vil for eksempel en økende mengde av komponent C representert ved strukturen V redusere poleringshastigheten til den begroingshindrende malingen og en økt mengde av komponent B representert ved strukturen IV vil gi et system som polerer raskere. Hydrolysehastigheten kan også reguleres ved å benytte blandinger av polymerer med forskjellig hydrolysehastighet.
Polymerene i følge oppfinnelsen hydrolyserer i svakt alkalisk miljø som sjø-vann og egner seg til anvendelse i selvpolerende begroingshindrende maling. Når polymeren hydrolyserer i kontakt med sjøvann går polymeren gradvis over til å være hydrofil og eroderbar slik at den vaskes bort av sjøvann i bevegelse, for eksempel når skip er under fart. Ny polymeroverflate frigjøres og er klar for eksponering ovenfor sjøvann med etterfølgende hydrolyse og polering. Dette danner grunnlaget for en selvpolerende begroingshindrende maling med varig begroingshindrende effekt.
En typisk begroingshindrende maling i henhold til oppfinnelsen består av bindemidler og en eller flere andre komponenter. Disse bindemidlene kan være polymerer i følge oppfinnelsen, eventuelt blandinger av flere polymerer i følge oppfinnelsen, og andre bindemidler.
En typisk begroingshindrende maling i henhold til oppfinnelsen kan også bestå av polymeren beskrevet ovenfor i blanding med andre polymerer som beskrevet i NO2002 0846.

Det vil forstås av de som er kjent med slike formuleringer, at bindemiddelfasen også kan inneholde andre kobindemidler som for eksempel rosin, mykningsmidler eller andre som eksemplifisert nedenfor.
Eksempler på kobindemidler omfatter rosin, rosin derivater og metallsalter av rosin som for eksempel tallolje-rosin, gum-rosin, wood-rosin, hydrogenert rosin, fumarsyre- gum-rosin-ester, maleinsyre-rosin-ester, polymerisert rosin, dimerisert rosin, sinkrosinat, kobberrosinat, kalsiumrosinat, kaliumrosinat eller andre som beskrevet i WO9744401 og W09615198;
andre kobindemidler som lakserolje og derivater av lakserolje, linfrøolje og derivater av linfrøolje, soyaolje og derivater av soyaolje, kokosolje og derivater av kokosolje;
vinylklorid og kopolymerer av vinylklorid;
styren kopolymerer som styren/(met)akrylat-kopoylymerer; mettede polyestere som polyvinylacetat; alkyder og modifiserte alkyder; hydrokarbon-harpikser som petro-leumfraksjon-kondensater.
Eksempler på mykningsmidler inkluderer klorerte parafiner;
ftalater som for eksempel dibutylflalat, benzylbutylftalat, dioktylftalat, dinonylftalat og diisodecylftalat;
fosfatestere som for eksempel trikresylfosfat, nonylfenylfosfat, oktyloksypoly(etylen-oksy)etylfosfat, tributoksyetylfosfat, isooktylfosfat og 2-etylheksyl-difenylfosfat;
sulfonamider som for eksempel H-etyl-para-toluen-sulfonamid og alkyl-para-toluen-sulfonamid;
adipater som for eksempel bis(2-etylheksyl)adipat, diisobutyladipat og dioktyladipat; og andre som for eksempel fosforsyre-trietylester, butylstearat, sorbitantriolat og epoksydert soya(bønne)olje.
De andre komponentene som inngår i malingen kan være biologisk aktive stoffer, pigmenter og fyllstoffer, surfaktanter, fuktemidler og dispergeringsmidler, tør-kestoffer, aktivatorer, skumdempere, stabilisatorer, antioksidanter, korrosjonsinhibitorer, koalesceringsmidler, fortykningsmidler og antibunnfallsmidler, fibrer og løs-ningsmidler.
Den totale bindemiddelsammensetningen gir malingen de nødvendige selvpolerende og brede mekaniske egenskapene. I tillegg er det nødvendig med bruk av ulike forbindelser for å kontrollere befesting og vekst av begroingsorganismer. Disse biologisk aktive forbindelsene kan i store trekk deles inn i to grupper, nemlig uorganiske og organiske forbindelser.
Uorganiske biologisk aktive forbindelser inkluderer ulike kobberforbindelser inklusive oksider, salter, metaller og legeringer enten brukt alene eller flere i kombinasjon. Spesifikke eksempler er kobberoksid, kobbertiocyanat, metallisk kobber og metallisk kobbe r-n ikkel. Denne kategorien inkluderer også bariummetaborat.
De organiske biologisk aktive forbindelsene inkluderer både rene organiske og metallorganiske stoffer som er mye brukt i begroingshindrende teknologi i dag eller som blir evaluert for denne teknologien. Disse blir generelt brukt i kombinasjon med uorganiske forbindelser for å gi forbedret ytelse, men kan også brukes i maling som ikke inneholder disse. Metallorganiske forbindelser inkluderer organokobber-, sink- og mangan- forbindelser.
Eksempler på organokobber forbindelser inkluderer kobberpyrition, oksin-kobber, kobber nonylfenolsulfonat, kobbernaftenat, kobberacetat, kobber-bis(etylendi-amin)bisdodecylbenzensulfonat og kobber bis(pentaklorfenolat).
Eksempler på organosinkforbindelser inkluderer sinkpyrition, sink-dimetylditio-karbamat, sink-etylen-bis(ditiokarbamat) og mangan-etylen-bis(ditiokarbamat)polymer kompleksert med sinksalt. Et eksempel på organomanganforbindelse er mangan-etylenbis(ditiokarbamat)polymer.
Eksempler på heterocykliske nitrogenholdige forbindelser inkluderer 2-metyl-tio-4-fert-butylamino-6-cyklopropylamino-triazin, 2,3,5,6-tetraklor-4-(metylsulfonyl) pyridin og pyridintrifenylboran.
Eksempler på heterocykliske svovelholdige forbindelser inkluderer 4,5-diklor-2-oktyl-3(2H)-isotiazolon, 1,2-bensisotiazolin-3-on og 2-(tiocyanometyltio)-benzotia-zol.
Eksempler på ureaderivater inkluderer 3-(3,4-diklorfenyl)-1,1-dimetylurea.
Eksempler på amider og imider av karboksylsyrer, sulfoniske og sulfeniske syrer inkluderer N-(diklorfluormetyltio)ftalimid, N,N-dimetyl-N-fenyl-(diklorfluormetyl-tio)-sulfamid og 1,1 -diklor-N-((dimetylamino)sulfonyl)-1 -f luor-N-(4-metylfenyl)metan-sulfenamid.
Eksempler på salter eller estere av karboksylsyrer inkluderer 2-((3-jod-2-pro-pynyl)okso)-etanolfenylkarbamat og 3-jod-2-propynyl N-butylkarbamat.
Eksempler på aminer inkluderer dehydroabetylaminer og kokodimetylamin.
Eksempler på substituert benzen inkluderer 2,4,5,6-tetraklor-1,3-benzendikar-bonitril og 1 -((dijodmetyl)sulfonyl)-4-metylbenzen.
Andre eksempler kan være tetraalkylfosfoniumhalogenider og guanidinderi-vater.
Ved bruk av de organiske og metallorganiske aktive forbindelsene i kombinasjon med uorganiske aktive forbindelser som for eksempel kobberoksid, kobbertiocyanat og metallisk kobber, blir mengdene av organiske og metallorganiske aktive forbindelser typisk lavere enn når disse benyttes alene.
Disse organiske og metallorganiske aktive forbindelser kan også brukes i kombinasjon med andre organiske og metallorganiske aktive forbindelser i fravær av uorganiske aktive forbindelser.
I mange begroingshindrende malinger representerer de biologisk aktive forbindelsene hoveddelen av pigmentene. I tillegg kan ulike forbindelser inkluderes. Disse forbindelsene betegnes enten som pigmenter eller som fyllstoffer avhengig av deres brytningsindeks.
En viktig egenskap til pigmentene eller fyllstoffene er graden av vannløselig-het. Dette gjelder spesielt når man ser på selvpolerende begroingshindrende malinger basert på et hydrolyse rende bindemiddel. Pigmenter eller fyllstoffer kan deles inn i de som er følsomme for vann eller løselige i vann og de som ikke er følsomme for vann eller uløselige i vann. Den første kategorien inkluderer pigmenter eller fyllstoffer som er biologisk aktive nevnt tidligere. Eksempler på disse inkluderer kobberoksid og kobbertiocyanat. Andre pigmenter eller fyllstoffer i denne kategorien inkluderer sinkoksid, sølvklorid, sølvoksid, kalsiumfluorid, kalsiumhydrogenfosfat, kalsiumfosfat, kal-siumsilikat, jernkarbonat, jernkarbonyl, magnesiumhydroksyd, magnesiumdihydrok-syd, magnesiumkarbonat, mangankarbonat, sinkkromat, sinkkarbonat, sinksulfid. I selvpolerende systemer, som er beskrevet her, kan slike stoffer brukes til å justere poleringshastigheten til malingen. Disse komponentene kan bli brukt alene eller i kombinasjon.
De vannuløselige pigmentene eller fyllstoffene i denne gruppen er omfattende og når disse blir brukt i selvpolerende systemer, som er beskrevet i dette patentet, kan de redusere poleringshastigheten til malingen. Eksempler. De følgende eksempler viser fremstilling av utaanqsstoffer oa mellomprodukter for anvendelse til fremstilling av begroingshindrende maling.
Eksempel 1
Syntese av dimetvl 5 . 5 '- r2 . 2 - DroDandivl - bis ( 4 - fenvlenoksv ) ldivalefat
En løsning av natriummetoksid, fra Na (1,6 g, 69,6 mmol) og tørr metanol (150 ml), ble tilsatt bisfenol A (15,9 g, 69,6 mmol). Da alt var fullstendig løst ble metyl 5-bromvalerat (27,2 g, 139,2 mmol) tilsatt og reaksjonsblandingen ble refluksert i 8 da-ger. Reaksjonsblandingen ble deretter avkjølt til romtemperatur, helt oppi vann og ekstrahert med diklormetan. Den organiske fasen ble tørket med MgS04 og filtrert. Inndamping av filtratet på Rotavapor ga en brun olje. Råproduktet ble renset ved flash kromatografi (EtOAc:Heksan; gradient fra 2,5-60%) 2 ganger.
Utbytte: 7,30 g (15,99 mmol, 44%).
Eksempel 2
Syntese av metvl 4 - f 1 -( metoksvkarbonvl ) Dentvloksvlbenzoat
Metyl 2-bromkaproat (8,00 g, 38,3 mmol) løst i DMSO (50 ml) ble avkjølt til
0°C og tilsatt K2C03 (5,29 g, 38,3 mmol) etterfulgt av metyl 4-hydroksybenzoat (5,83 g, 38,3 mmol). Isbadet ble fjernet etter 1 time og reaksjonsblandingen ble rørt videre 3 døgn ved romtemperatur. Reaksjonsblandingen ble helt på isvann (500 ml) og produktet ble ekstrahert ut med heksan (2x100 ml) og eter (100 ml). De kombinerte organisk ekstraktene ble vasket med vann, tørket med MgS04, filtrert og oppkonseht-
rørt på Rotavapor. Råproduktet var en blank, klar væske og ble brukt direkte uten videre opprensing.
Utbytte:11,0 g (>100% inneholder litt fukt).
Eksempel 3
Syntese av metvl 4 - f4 -( metoksvkarbonvl ) butvloksvlbenzoat
Metyl 5-bromvalerat (8,00 g, 35,9 mmol) løst i DMSO (50 ml) ble avkjølt til 0°C og tilsatt K2C03 (4,96 g, 35,9 mmol) etterfulgt av metyl 4-hydroksybenzoat (5,46 g, 35,9 mmol). Videre reaksjon og opparbeiding av produkt ble utført som beskrevet i Eksempel 2. Råproduktet ble brukt direkte uten videre opprensing.
Utbytte:8,32 g (87%).
Eksempel 4
Syntese av dimetvl 4 . 4 '- f ( kaDrovlimino )- bisfmetvlen ) ldibenzoat
( a) Syntese av metvl 4 -(( 4 -( metoksvkarbonvl ) benzvl ) iminometvl ) benzoat
Metyl 4-(aminometyl)benzoat hydroklorid (12,6 g, 60,9 mmol) ble rørt i absolutt etanol (260 ml) sammen med trietylamin (8,5 ml, 60,9 mmol) og varmet ved refluks til alt var løst. Deretter ble metyl 4-formylbenzoat (95% renhet, 10,0 g, 60,9 mmol) tilsatt og reaksjonsblandingen ble refluksert i ca. 20 min. og deretter avkjølt til romtemperatur. Produktet begynte umiddelbart å felle ut og kolben ble satt i kjøleskap over natten; Neste dag ble blandingen filtrert og produktet ble vasket med iskald absolutt etanol. Produktet ble så tørket i eksikator.
Utbytte: 17,3 g, 96%
( b) Syntese av dimetvl 4 . 4 '- f ( iminobis ( metvlen ) ldibenzoat
Metanol (25 ml) ble avkjølt til 0°C før NaBH4 (5,5 g, 140 mmol) og forbindelsen som ble syntetisert under 4(a) ovenfor (16,8 g, 53,9 mmol) ble tilsatt. Reaksjonsblandingen ble varmet opp til romtemperatur hvor den reagerte til gassutviklingen roet seg noe ned, før videre oppvarming til refluks. Etter drøyt tre timer ble reaksjonsblandingen avkjølt til romtemperatur og 3M H2S04 ble tilsatt til pH 8. Utfelte salter ble filtrert fra og vann ble tilsatt til filtratet. Vannfasen ble ekstrahert 4 ganger med kloroform og samlet organisk fase ble tørket med MgS04 og dampet inn på Rotavapor.
Utbytte: 13,8 g, 82%
( c) Syntese av dimetvl 4 . 4 '- f ( kaDrovlimino ) bisfmetvlen ) 1dibenzoat Forbindelsen som ble syntetisert under Eksempel 4(b) ovenfor (5,0 g, 16,0 mmol) ble løst i tørr pyridin (75 ml) og avkjølt på isbad før kaproylklorid (2,6 ml, 19,1 mmol) ble tildryppet. Etter at tildryppingen var fullført ble reaksjonsblandingen refluksert i ca. 1 time. Blandingen ble så avkjølt til romtemperatur og dampet inn på Rotavapor. Resi-duet ble løst i diklormetan og vasket med vann, deretter med 1M HCI og til slutt med vann igjen før det ble tørket med MgS04. Etter filtrering og inndamping på Rotavapor ble råproduktet renset ved flashkromatografi gjennom en kort kolonne (heksan/ EtOAc 4:1, deretter heksan / EtOAc 7:3). Produktet er en guloransje olje.
Utbytte: 6,4 g, 97%.

Syntese av dimetvl 4 . 4 '-(( acetvlimino ) bismetvlen ) dibenzoat
Produktet ble fremstilt som beskrevet i Eksempel 4(c). Diesteren som ble syntetisert i eksempel 3(b) (5,0 g, 16,0 mmol) ble reagert med acetylklorid (1,5 g, 19,1 mmol) i stedet for kaproylklorid.
Utbytte: 5,3 g, 93%.
Eksempel 6
Syntese av dimetvl 4 . 4 '-(( 5 -( benzvlamino )- 5 - oksoDentanovlimino ) bis ( metvlen )) dibenzoat
( a) Syntese av 5 -( benzvlamino )- 5 - oksoDentansvre
Glutarsyreanhydrid (1,00 g, 8,76 mmol) ble løst i tørr diklormetan (100 ml), en spatelspiss /V,/V-dimetylaminopyridin (DMAP) og benzylamin (0,96 ml, 8,76 mmol) ble tilsatt. Reaksjonsblandingen ble rørt ved romtemperatur under nitrogen atmosfære i 4 timer, og produktet ble ekstrahert ut med vandig NaOH (1 M, 3x). Den basiske vannfasen ble tilsatt vandig HCI (3M) til pH 1 ble oppnådd, og løsningen ble ekstrahert med kloroform (4x). Den samlede organiske fasen ble tørket med MgS04l filtrert og dampet inn på Rotavapor. Destillasjonsresten var et hvitt fast stoff (0,482 g). Den sure vannfasen ble ekstrahert med EtOAc (3x) for å utvinne mer produkt (0,844 g).
Total utbytte: 1,326 g (68%).

Dimetylesteren som syntetisert under Eksempel 4(b) (5,593 g, 17,85 mmol), 5-(benz-ylamino)-5-oksopentansyren som ble syntetisert under 6(a) ovenfor (3,95 g, 17,85
mmol) og N,N'-dicykloheksylkarbodiimid (DCC, 4,05 g, 19,63 mmol) ble blandet sammen med diklormetan (300 ml) og rørt ved romtemperatur i 3 timer. Utfelt dicykloheksylurea (DCU) ble filtrert fra og filtratet ble dampet inn på Rotavapor. Råproduktet ble brukt uten videre opprensing i neste reaksjon.
Eksempel 7
Syntese av 2 . 2 '-( 2 - hvdroksv - 1 . 3 - Dropandivl ) bis ( 1 . 3 - dioksoisoindolin - 5 - karboksvlsvre )
Trimelittinanhydrid (5,0 g, 26,0 mmol) ble løst i tørr DMF ved romtemperatur og 1,3-diamin-2-propanol (1,17 g, 13,0 mmol) løst i DMF ble tildryppet. Reaksjonsblandingen ble refluksert under N2-atmosfære i 3 timer, løsningsmiddelet ble dampet av på Rotavapor og den gule oljen ble tilsatt varmt vann (100 ml). Hvitt utfelt stoff ble filtrert fra og vasket med vann, slemmet opp i vandig HCI (0,5 M, 4x20 ml) på sinteret med avsuging mellom hver gang. Til slutt ble forbindelsen vasket med vann (2x20 ml) og tørket på Rotavapor over natten.
Utbytte: 4,5 g (79%). Hvitt pulver.
Eksempel 8
Syntese av 4A '-(( 2 - hvdroksy - 1 . 3 - proDandivl ) bis ( oksy )) dibenzosvre
p-Hydrokssybenzosyre (42,8 g, 0,31 mol) ble blandet sammen med en vandig løsning av NaOH (12,4 g, 0,31 mol) i 140 ml vann. Na-saltet ble så blandet sammen med 1,3-diklor-2-propanol (20,0 g, 0,155 mol). Til denne blandingen ble det i løpet av 10 minutter dryppet en løsning av NaOH (14,9 g) i vann (35 ml). Reaksjonsblandingen ble så varmet opp til 70°C og reagert ved denne temperaturen over natten. Neste dag ble reaksjonsblandingen avkjølt til romtemperatur og deretter surgjort med ca. 15% HCI (aq.) Det ble dannet en hvit utfelling. Litt vann ble tilsatt og hele blandingen ble varmet til ca. 60°C og deretter varmfiltrert. Stoffet som satte seg i filteret ble vasket 2 ganger med varmt vann (60°C) og deretter løst i 10% NaHC03. Løs-ningen ble varmet til 50°C og surgjort med 15% HCI. Deretter ble løsningen varmet til 85°C og varmfiltrert. Utfelt materiale ble vasket med varmt vann til vaskevannet var pH-nøytralt. Deretter ble stoffet tørket, først i eksikator og til slutt på frysetørker.
Utbytte 32,9 g, 64%

g) ble løst i tørr DMF (250 ml) og benzylalkohol (18,9 g/18,1 ml, 0,175 mol) ble tilsatt dråpevis ved romtemperatur under N2-atmosfære. Reaksjonsblandingen ble rørt ved
40°C over natten før løsningsmiddelet ble fjernet. Destillasjonsresten ble tilsatt vandig natriumkarbonat (10%, 170 ml) og deretter surgjort med HCI (4M, 60 ml). En orange olje ble utfelt, og denne ble rørt i vann for å fjerne DMF-rester. Løsningen ble ekstrahert med eter. Den organiske fasen ble tørket med MgSCvi bg filtrert. Fjerning av løsningsmiddel på Rotavapor etterlot en orange olje inneholdende noe DMF.
Utbytte: 17,31 g (46%).
Fremstilling av monomerer
Eksempel 10
Generell svnteseinstruksion for fremstilling av monomerer ved hydrolyse av diester
Diester (1 mol ekv.) tilsettes en blanding av metanol og vann (forhold 1:1 - 5:1). KOH eller NaOH (3 mol ekv.) tilsettes. Reaksjonsblandingen røres ved romtemperatur i 1 døgn. Metanolen dampes av på Rotavapor. Den basiske vannresten tilsettes mer vann, ekstraheres med diklormetan (DCM, 2-3 ganger). Vannfasen sur-gjøres med vandig HCI (5M) til pH 3-4. Utfelt disyre filtreres fra, vaskes med vann og tørkes. Produktet kan eventuelt renses ved omkrystallisering.
Detaljer for reagensmengdene er gitt i Tabell 1.
Eksempel 11
Generell svnteseinstruksion for forestrina av alkoholsidearuo<p>e på disvre:
Disyre med alkoholsidegruppe (1 mol ekv.) blandes med overskudd pyridin. Syreklorid (3 mol ekv.) dryppes til. Reaksjonsblandingen røres over natten. Løsnings-middelet dampes av på Rotavapor. Den gjenværende massen tilsettes eventuelt vann og pH justeres til 2 ved å tilsette HCI (5M) for å hydrolysere anhydrid endegrup-pene. Reaksjonsblandingen røres ved romtemperatur eller reflukseres over natten. Blandingen filtreres og det faste stoffet vaskes med dimetyleter, vann, dimetyleter og tørkes under redusert trykk.
Eksempel 12
Generell svnteseinstruksion for forestrina av alkoholsidearuppe på disyre: Karboksylsyre (1 mol ekv.) løses i tørr diklormetan (DCM, 150 ml) sammen med A/,A/-dicykloheksylkarbodiimid (DCC, 1,1 mol ekv.) og en katalytisk mengde N, N-dimetyl-aminopyridin (DMAP). Reaksjonsblandingen kjøles ned til 0°C før disyre med alkohol-sidegruppe (1 mol ekv.) tilsettes. Røring ble foretatt i 4 timer ved 0°C og deretter ved romtemperatur over natten. Utfelt dicykloheksylurea (DCU) filtreres fra. Den organiske fasen vaskes med mettet NaCI løsning, tørkes (Na2S04), filtreres og dampes inn på Rotavapor. Produktet renses ved flash kromatografi.

Generell svnteseinstruksion for fremstilling av polymer ved kondensasions - <p>olvmerisasion
( a) Generell svnteseinstruksion for fremstilling av di ( trimetvlsilvl ) ester prepolvmer
En eller flere disyrer tilsvarende strukturenhet A (1 mol ekv.) blandes med tørr xylen under Ar-atmosfære før heksametyldisilazan (1,25 mol ekv.) tilsettes. Reaksjonsblandingen reageres ved 115°C. Reaksjonsblandingen avkjøles til romtemperatur før inndamping.
( b) Generell svnteseinstruksion for fremstilling av polymer ved kondensasions -
polvmerisasion
Di(trimetylester)ester som fremstilt under Eksempel 13(a) ovenfor blandes med tionylklorid eller disyreklorid i ekvimolare mengder og evt. katalytiske mengder trietyl-benzyl ammoniumklorid (TEBA-CI). Blandingen røres med Argon-bobling gjennom løs-ningen. Polymerisasjonstemperaturen økes trinnvis til 180-200°C. Ar-boblingen avslut-tes og vakuum kobles til. Reaksjonsblandingen holdes ved 180-200°C under vakuum i 2-6 timer. Polymeren avkjøles.

Generell svnteseinstruksion for fremstilling av polymer ved smelteoolvmerisasion
( a) Generell svnteseinstruksion for fremstilling av prepolvmer med eddiksvreanh<y>drid
En eller flere disyrer tilsvarende strukturenhet A alene eller sammen med en eller flere disyrer tilsvarende strukturenhet B og/eller dioler tilsvarende strukturenhet C blandes med overskudd eddiksyreanhydrid og varmes til alt er løst (ca. 80-90°C). Løsningen avkjøles og evt. filtreres før inndamping på Rotavapor.
( b) Generell svnteseinstruksion for fremstilling av polymer ved smeltepolvmerisasion
Prepolymer som fremstilt under Eksempel 14(a) ovenfor løses i tørr diklormetan før kadmiumacetat dihydrat (Cd(OAc)2 • 2H20) tilsettes. Blandingen røres litt for å få katalysatoren jevnt fordelt i prepolymeren. Løsningsmiddelet fjernes deretter på Rotavapor. Reaksjonskolben kobles til vakuum (0,5-1 mbar) og senkes i oljebad ved 150-180°C. Etter 30-75 minutter avkjøles blandingen til romtemperatur. Råproduktet løses i diklormetan eller annet egnet løsningsmiddel, evt. filtreres og felles 2 ganger i kald heksan. Den utfelte polymeren tørkes i eksikator.

Eksempel på fremstilling av maling
En eller flere polymerer (24 vekt%) løses i cykloheksanon (29 vekt%) på en "dissolver". Kobbertiocyanat (47 vekt%) tilsettes under røring og malingen rives til en rivefinhet < 30 u.m. Fortykningsmiddel (BYK 410) (0,5 vekt%) og eventuelt mer løsnings-middel røres inn etter riving.

Eksempel på fremstilling av maling
En eller flere polymerer (16 vekt%) løses i cykloheksanon (20 vekt%) på en "dissolver". Kobberoksid (64 vekt%) tilsettes under røring og malingen rives til en rivefinhet
< 30 um. Fortykningsmiddel (BYK 410) (0,5 vekt%) og eventuelt mer løsningsmiddel røres inn etter riving.

Eksempel på fremstilling av maling
En eller flere polymerer (45 vekt%) løses i cykloheksanon (55 vekt%). Fortykningsmiddel (BYK 410) (0,5 vekt%) og eventuelt mer løsningsmiddel røres deretter inn.

Eksempel på fremstilling av maling
En eller flere polymerer (16,6 vekt%) løses i cykloheksanon (20,0 vekt%) på en "dissolver". Kobberoksid (29,8 vekt%), sinkoksid (28,8 vekt%), jernoksid (2,6 vekt%) og dolomitt (1,7 vekt%) tilsettes under røring og malingen rives til en rivefinhet < 30 um. Fortykningsmiddel (BYK 410) (0,5 vekt%) og eventuelt mer løsningsmiddel røres inn etter riving.
Bestemmelse av polerinashastiqheter i sjøvann
Poleringshastigheten bestemmes ved å måle reduksjon i filmtykkelse av en rna-lingsformulering over tid. Til denne testen benyttes runde PVC plater. Platene avfettes og malingsformuleringene påføres i striper radielt på platen. Etter påføring tørkes filmene i minimum 24 timer. Tykkelsen av de tørre filmene måles ved hjelp av egnet elekt-ronisk filmtykkelsesmåler. PVC-platene monteres på en aksel som roterer i en beholder med gjennomstrømning av sjøvann. Det brukes naturlig sjøvann som er filtrert og tem-perert til 21 ±2°C. PVC-platene tas ut med jevne intervaller for måling av filmtykkelser. Platene skylles da méd ferskvann og settes til tørk ved romtemperatur over natten. Filmtykkelsene måles og platene settes tilbake i sjøvann og roteres.
Tabell 5 viser at polyanhydridene polerer ved eksponering for sjøvann. Tabellen viser videre at de forskjellig polyanhydridene viser et stort spenn i poleringshastigheter som gjør det mulig å kombinere monomerer og polymerer samt andre malingskompo-nenter slik at en oppnår den poleringshastighet som til en hver tid ønskes.
