Abstract
Sammendrag Den foreliggende oppfinnelsen vedrører en sopp C16/18 fettsyreelongase som er i stand til å katalysere omdanningen av palmitat (1 6:0) til stearinsyren (1 8:0). Spesifikk så blir nukleotidsekvensen til en Morteriella alpina C 16/I 8 fettsyreelongase tilveiebrakt (kalt 'TL03"). Fremgangsmåter for å øke mikrobiell oljeproduksjon, og øke karbonstrømming inn i den polyumettede fettsyrebiosyntetiske reaksjonsveien og å øke innholdet av polyumettede fettsyrer ved overuttrykk av C16/18 fettsyreelongasen er beskrevet her.
