Abstract

Kosttilskudd, ferdigmatprodukt eller direkte matadditiv for inntak av pattedyr og fremgangsmåter for fremstilling av slike produkter er tilveiebrakt. Produkter ifølge oppfinnelsen innbefatter en oksidasjonsresistent fettbasert sammensetning i det vesentlige uten eksogene solubiliserende og dispergerende midler for fytosteroler. Den fettbaserte sammensetningen inkluderer mer enn 25 % og mindre enn 75 % i forhold til vekt av én eller flere triglyseridbaserte spiselige oljer eller fett, og mer enn 25 % og mindre enn 75 % i forhold til vekt av én eller flere ikke-forestrede fytosteroler. Den fettbaserte sammensetningen, når den eksponeres for luft, inneholder en redusert mengde oksidative biprodukter sammenlignet med en tilsvarende fettbasert sammensetning uten ikke-forestrede fytosteroler. Også tilveiebrakt er fremgangsmåter for å redusere plasmakolesterol hos pattedyr, og fremgangsmåter for å beskytte plasmalipoproteiner og kolesterol fra oksidasjon ved inntak av produkter ifølge oppfinnelsen.
