Abstract
En fremgangsmåte for redusering av oksygeninnholdet i et pulver er tilveiebrakt. En kanister klargjøres med en getter, fylles med pulveret som skal fortettes, forsegles og evakueres. Kanisteren utsettes for en hydrogenatmosfære ved en høy temperatur, hvorved hydrogen diffunderer inn i kanisteren gjennom dens vegger. Hydrogenet danner fuktighet når det reageres med oksygenet i pulveret, og fuktigheten reagerer deretter med getteren for å fjerne oksygen fra pulveret til getteren. Atmosfæren på utsiden av kanisteren blir deretter endret til en inert atmosfære eller et vakuum, hvorved hydrogen diffunderer ut av kanisteren. Et tett legeme som har en styrt mengde av oksygen kan deretter produseres ved hjelp av konvensjonelle pulvermetallurgiteknikker.
