Abstract

Valget mellom flere bærere (bærebølger eller bærefrekvenser) bruker mottakere som er tilpasset bærefrekvensvalg i trådløse kommunikasjonssystemer hvor flere bærefrekvenser brukes. Selv om mottakeren er avstemt til et enkelt frekvensbånd, kan et estimat for kanalkvaliteten i den i øyeblikket brukte bærer og likeledes i en alternativ bærer frembringes uten at mottakeren må kople om mellom bærerne. Sendere som hører til forskjellig celle/sektor i et dekningsområde bruker forskjellig bærefrekvens, men kan periodisk sende ved bruk av en nabosektors bærefrekvens. Mobile knutepunktmottakere bruker en enkelt RF-kjede med et styrbart RF-filter til å motta og behandle et signal i det første valgte bærerbånd, idet signalet omfatter to komponenter, nemlig en første som identifiseres med det første valgte bånd og en andre komponent som identifiseres med det andre alternative bånd. Separate kvalitetsindikatorverdier oppnås ut fra den første og andre signalkomponent, sammenliknes og fører til en bestemmelse av om mottakerens filter skal koples om til det andre bånd eller ikke.
