Abstract

The cut castellated edges of the two planks engage with each other at their points of greatest depth. One of the planks carries a metal strip along an edge opposite to the castellated edge. The planks may be formed by a number of trapezoidal blocks, the narrow ends of which form the raised section, while their ends are connected to each other. A stay is connected to the plain edge of one plank, via an intermediate metal strip. A girder with an increased depth of web is obtained by this method, using the same amount of wood. The two planks which are joined together by the tips of their castellations are cut from the same plank.
