Abstract
Gaseous or liquid wastes are burnt by placing the container with the appropriate waste material in a box and connecting it to a pipe leading to a combustion furnace where it can be burnt, the box being continuously ventilated and a part of the ventilation air coming from it being supplied to the combustion furance while the remainder is mixed with the combustion waste gases coming from the furnace, and by thereafter treating this mixture in a catalytic after-burner bed, the final combustion gases from which are diluted with a very large volume of fresh air before discharge to atmosphere. The box, combustion furnace and after burner are all continuously maintained under reduced pressure.
