Abstract
Method of and appts. for producing iron ore sinter is claimed in which part of the solid fuel is replaced by gaseous fuel and this is blown through the sinter bed with the combustion air and burnt, whereby the gas and air are intimately mixed in the main supply duct and the gas/air mixt. is kept below the ignition proportion to avoid burning below the charge. A considerable saving is achieved in cost by reduction of consumption of solid fuel.
