Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively hold down the production of nitrogen oxides, by dividing a fluidized bed combustion chamber into plural parts and setting different air fuel ratios in the parts.
CONSTITUTION: The combustion chamber is divided into excess fuel chambers 3, 3 and excess air chambers 4, 4 by water-cooled walls 1, 2. Fuel feed pipes 5 are opened into these chambers through the water-cooled walls 1. Numerous air dispersion plates 6 are provided at the bottom of the combustion chamber to disperse air up into it. A reducing atmosphere with an air ratio of about 0.8 to 0.9 is provided in the excess fuel chamber 3, namely, the quantity of oxygen there is set insufficient to hold down the direct prodution of nitrogen monoxide from fuel and the production of nitrogen monoxide due to heat. In the upper part of the combustion chamber equipped with heat transfer tubes etc., not yet burned fuel is mixed with exhaust gas supplied from the air excess air chamber 4 so that the fuel is completely burned. The production of nitrogen oxides is greatly suppressed as a whole.
