Abstract

PURPOSE: To accomplish low-NOX combustion, by reducing NOX by disposing reducing burners in the vicinity of main burners, said reducing burners having an extremely low excess air ratio and their capacity being smaller than that of the main burners, and re-combusting uncombusted substances produced by the oxygen contained in exhaust gas.
CONSTITUTION: In a furnace 5, there are provided a plurality of main burners 1 for forming a main combustion zone. Further, reducing burners 2 for forming reducing combustion zones are disposed in the vicinity of respective main burners 1. Here, the capacity of the reducing burners 2 is made smaller than that of the main burners 1, and the excess air ratio of the reducing burners 2 is selected to be lower (for instance, about 0.45W0.6) than that (about 0.8) of the main burners 1. By combusting fuel F under the above-mentioned excess air ratio, a reducing atmosphere is developed in the vicinity of the burners 1, 2. Further, a mixture gas of combusting air A and exhaust gas G produced in the furnace is supplied from secondary-air ports 4 for combusting uncombusted substances produced under the aforesaid reducing atmosphere.
