Abstract

1,096,795. Utilizing waste gases. BETEILIGUNGS - UND PATENTVERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. July 30, 1965 [Aug. 1, 1964], No. 32766/65. Heading F4B. Waste gases from a converter pass in turn through a hood incorporating a gas seal, a waste heat boiler, a Venturi scrubber and a fan on their way to a burner, the scrubber and fan being preset so that during part of the blow an excess of combustion air is drawn into the system, whereas in the period of maximum evolution of CO, combustion is incomplete, the residue being ignited at the burner. The setting of the scrubber and fan is varied to suit conditions and economies in the size of waste heat boiler and lack of expensive control apparatus compensate for the incomplete combustion referred to.
