Abstract

La invencion se relaciona con un sedimentador para decantar suspensiones minerales y un metodo del mismo. el sedimentador (10) comprende un tanque (11) para retener y decantar un cuerpo de suspension (15 y 16) para formar una suspension espesada como una capa (15) inferior y un liquido clarificado como una capa (16) superior, el tanque teniendo una pared (34) lateral, un fondo 836) y una parte superior (14), una salida (18) para la suspension espesada en el fondo del tanque, una salida (19) para la capa de liquido clarificado cerca de la parte superior (14) del tanque, un medio (12) de entrada de suspension cerca de la parte superior del tanque para introducir suspension fresca hacia el tanque, el medio de entrada de suspension teniendo una abertura de suspension a traves de la cual la suspension fresca se une con el cuerpo de suspension en el tanque y un agitador (20) que tiene un eje (30) generalmente vertical alrededor del cual el agitador gira o reciproca. La abertura de suspension (12C) se desplaza lateralmente con relacion al eje (30) generalmente vertical del agitador 820); y el medio de entrada de suspension esta configurado pare permitir que la suspension fresca entre al cuerpo de suspension sin acumular solidos de la suspension fresca en la abertura de suspension.
