Abstract

La invencion se refiere a un procedimiento para preparar una composicion catalizadora activada en la cual una composicion catalizadora que comprende un metal noble del grupo VIII y un compuesto de aluminio substituido con hidrocarburo sobre un vehículo de alumina que contiene hasta 20% en peso de otros componentes es activado al ponerlo en contacto con un gas que contiene hidrogeno a una temperatura en exceso de 500 degree C con la condicion de que por lo menos cuando el compuesto de aluminio substituido con hidrocarburo presente en la composicion catalizadora no es un halogenuro de aluminio substituido con hidrocarburo, la composicion catalizadora que va a ser activada se pone en contacto con un compuesto de halogeno ya sea antes del paso de activacion o durante el mismo; el catalizador obtenible por este procedimiento y el uso del mismo en procedimientos de conversion de hidrocarburo, tales como los procedimientos de isomerizacion y alquilacion, también son parte de la presente invencion; el efecto del paso de activacion a alta temperatura es que la actividad del catalizador así obtenido es mejorada en comparacion con un catalizador de la misma composicion que no ha sido sometido a dicho paso de activacion a alta temperatura.
