Abstract

Se usan almidones o harinas térmicamente inhibidos en adhesivos a base de agua convencionales tales como adhesivos corrugadores, de cigarrillo, rehumedesible y de Kraft. Los almidones o harinas se inhiben térmicamente deshidratando el almidon a anhidro o sustancialmente anhidro y después tratando con calor al almidon o harina durante un tiempo y a una temperatura suficiente para inhibir el almidon y mejorar su estabilidad de viscosidad. El almidon o harina puede deshidratarse en forma térmica o no térmica (por ejemplo mediante extraccion del alcohol o secado por congelamiento). Preferiblemente, el pH del almidon se ajusta a por lo menos un pH neutro antes de la deshidratacion.
