Abstract
530,226. Drying starch. CORN PRODUCTS REFINING CO. July 1, 1939, No. 19184. Convention date, July 11, 1938. [Class 34 (ii)] Starch cake is powdered and subjected to contact with a stream of drying gas at a temperature above that of gelatinization, namely from 300‹-1000‹ F. The starch is fed to a hammer mill A which is connected to an air heater C by a duct D, and the starch particles are carried through a pipe E to a cyclone separator G by a fan F. The separated particles are fed to a pipe J which joins a hot air pipe K leading to a second cyclone separator L, and the starch finally collects in a bag N. The air from the separator L is withdrawn by a fan P and conducted through a pipe O to the mill.
