Abstract

Un método para envolver o encapsular fibras opticas (26, figura 2), comprende los pasos de adherir fibra optica a una primera superficie de una parte plana, rígida (17) y de colocar la parte plana en una cámara básicamente hermética (10, figura 1). Una capa envolvente o encapsulante (13) es colocada en la cámara hermética, quedando de frente a la parte plana. La presion del aire en la parte plana, se vuelve entonces significativamente menor que la presion del aire en la capa envolvente, ocasionando que la capa envolvente (13) ejerza presion contra la parte plana (17, figura 3). La capa envolvente está hecha de un material flexible resistente al fuego, el cual mantiene su integridad estructural y no se derrite o inflama a temperaturas de por lo menos 200 degree C. Por ejemplo, la capa envolvente puede ser de Kapton (marca), Mylar barnizado (marca) o papel de aluminio. La capa envolvente (13) es adherida a la parte plana mediante un adhesivo (31, figura 2), de manera que, después de que la capa ha sido presionada contra las fibras opticas (26), soporte después en forma permanente cada fibra optica, en su posicion asignada.
