Abstract
La presente invención se basa en el descubrimiento de dos formas modificadas del factor-4 plaquetario humano, aquí denominadas MPF-4 y CPF-4, que se aíslan de un medio de cultivo libre de suero de leucocitos periféricos sanguíneos estimulados por lipopolisacáridos. La determinación de la secuencia de aminoácidos revela que el MPF-4 3 es homólogo con el factor-4 plaquetario empezando en el resto N-terminal 17. El CPF-4 consiste en MPF-4 unido por puentes disulfuro a los 16 restos N-terminales del factor-4 plaquetario. El MPF-4 y el CPF-4 son ambos potentes inhibidores de la proliferación de células endoteliales, aproximadamente 10-100 veces más potentes que el factor-4 plaquetario natural o recombinante, lo que les hace útiles en el tratamiento de enfermedades angiogénicas.
