Abstract
Se proporcionan diversas modalidades de un conectador médico de llave de cierre, antimicrobiano. Más específicamente, la presente invención se refiere a una llave de cierre que tiene canales de fluido proporcionados sobre porciones de la superficie externa de la llave de cierre, con lo cual el fluido desvía la llave de cierre a través de los canales de fluido al fluir entre la superficie externa de la llave de cierre y la superficie interna del alojamiento de llave de cierre. Algunas modalidades comprenden además un recubrimiento o inserto antimicrobiano que es proporcionado en uno o más canales de fluido, con lo cual el fluido que fluye a través de los canales de fluido hace contacto con el recubrimiento antimicrobiano o un agente antimicrobiano que es eluido desde el recubrimiento antimicrobiano. Adicionalmente, algunas modalidades de la presente invención comprenden una muesca antimicrobiana que es colocada opuesta al canal de fluido, con lo cual, cuando la llave de cierre está en una posición ``cerrada´´, la muesca antimicrobiana hace contacto con el fluido dentro de una compuerta bloqueada, con lo cual se previene el crecimiento microbiano en ésta.
