Abstract
Un proceso para hacer un componente de metal resistente a la corrosión. El proceso que tiene las etapas de: combinar agua, por lo menos un compuesto de fosfato de zinc y por lo menos un compuesto de cromo, que es compuesto de cromo (III) o de cromo (IV), para formar una primera solución; combinar por separado por lo menos un compuesto de silicato con agua para formar una segunda solución; combinar la primera solución con la segunda solución tal como para formar una solución acuosa mezclada; opcionalmente combinar la solución acuosa mezclada con por lo menos una resina acrílica para formar una mezcla de recubrimiento; y aplicar la mezcla de recubrimiento a un sustrato de metal que tiene una superficie de zinc o aleación de zinc para formar un recubrimiento sobre el sustrato de metal, el recubrimiento que proporciona resistencia química durante por lo menos 150 horas de acuerdo con los estándares de ASTM B117, donde el recubrimiento para zinc o aleación de zinc del sustrato de metal tiene un peso de 12.20 g/m2 (0.04 oz/pie2).
