Abstract

Se proporcionan métodos y composiciones para caracterizar objetivamente una lesión patológica en un paciente. El método comprende: introducir en el paciente un agente potenciador de contraste; someter al paciente a formación de imágenes por resonancia magnética para obtener una imagen; y aplicar una función de autocorrelación 3-D a un subdominio de interés de la imagen para obtener por lo menos un espectro de autocorrelación 3-D. El método además puede comprender comparar el o los espectros de autocorrelación 3-D con un espectro de autocorrelación 3-D preexistente que es característico para la lesión patológica. En un ejemplo, los métodos y composiciones pueden ser útiles para identificar y caracterizar objetivamente depósitos de placas amiloideas característicos de la enfermedad de Alzheimer.
