Abstract

Un aparato y un método para secado al vacío por microondas de materiales orgánicos tales como productos alimenticios. El aparato de deshidratación (20) tiene una cámara de vacío (24) con un módulo de entrada (28) en un extremo y un módulo de descarga (32) en el otro. La cámara de vacío tiene puertas de acceso (80) separadas entre el extremo de entrada (30) y el extremo de descarga (34) que proporcionan el acceso al operador y de mantenimiento. Los generadores de microondas (86) están montados en cada puerta de acceso y dispuestos para irradiar a través de una cámara de microondas y la ventana transparentes a las microondas en la puerta de acceso a la cámara de vacío. Un par de rodillos (60) en la cámara de vacío gira el contenedor de material orgánico (112) alrededor de un eje horizontal, y una transmisión de cadena (64) tira de los contenedores a lo largo de los rodillos a través de la cámara de vacío.
