Abstract
Se describe un proceso para la polimerización de suspensión de monómero de estireno para producir poliestireno, que comprende las etapas de (a) calentar una suspensión de polimerización que comprende el monómero de estireno a una temperatura de por lo menos 60°C, (b) dosificar un iniciador a la suspensión de polimerización calentada durante la reacción de polimerización durante más de 90 minutos a menos de 5 horas, de una manera continua o intermitentemente en por lo menos 2 porciones, el período de inicio en una conversión de monómero de menos de 65% y el iniciador tiene un período de vida en la temperatura a la cual se dosifica de no más de 60 minutos, en donde un retardador de llama bromado está presente en la suspensión de polimerización durante la reacción de polimerización.
