Abstract

Un motor eléctrico tiene un estator que define múltiples polos de estator con bobinados eléctricos asociados, y un rotor que tiene múltiples polos de rotor. El rotor tiene barreras de flujo entre polos de rotor adyacentes, cada una de las barreras de flujo tiene un material con una conductividad eléctrica mayor que el material de polo de rotor. Las barreras de flujo están aisladas eléctricamente entre sí fuera del material ferromagnético. Se inducen corrientes de Foucault en la barrera de flujo para provocar interferencia destructiva de un campo magnético inminente, de tal manera que la barrera de flujo actúa de manera efectiva para inhibir el flujo magnético durante el funcionamiento del motor, que en algunos casos dará como resultado una fuerza de repulsión que actuará para aumentar una fuerza motriz inducida en los polos de rotor.
