Abstract

La invención se refiere a un producto para uso en el tratamiento terapéutico o profiláctico de infecciones, dicho tratamiento comprende la administración oral del producto, en el que el producto se selecciona de una 5 formulación nutricional, un producto alimenticio, un suplemento dietético, una bebida y un producto farmacéutico, dicho producto contiene polisacáridos de zanahoria RG-I que tienen las siguientes características de combinación: un peso molecular en el intervalo de 10-300 kDa;• una estructura que consiste en residuos de ácido galacturónico y residuos de ramnosa, dichos residuos de ramnosa están contenidos en residuos de alfa(1 ? 4)-galacturónico-alfa(1 ? 2)-ramnosa; la siguiente composición de monosacáridos: 20-60 % en moles de residuos de ácido galacturónico, en la que los ácidos galacturónicos individuales pueden metilarse y/o acetil-esterificarse;? 8-50 % en moles de residuos de ramnosa;? 0-40 % en moles de residuos de arabinosa; ? 0-40 % en moles de residuos de galactosa; ? relación molar de residuos de ácido galacturónico a residuos de ramnosa en el intervalo de 5:1 a 1:1; los residuos de ácido galacturónico, los residuos de ramnosa, los residuos de arabinosa y los residuos de galactosa juntos constituyen al menos el 85 % en moles de los residuos de monosacáridos en los polisacáridos RG-I de zanahoria. Estos polisacáridos RG-I de zanahoria se pueden producir hidrolizando parcialmente los polisacáridos pécticos presentes en un aislado de pectina de zanahoria. La eficacia de los polisacáridos RG-I de zanahoria contra las infecciones mejora sustancialmente hidrolizando enzimáticamente los polisacáridos RG-I para eliminar al menos parte del componente de homogalacturonano.
