Abstract

Se utiliza una dispersión de un polímero con contenido en alquido dispersado en agua para formar una composición de recubrimiento basada en agua; siendo el polímero con contenido en alquido un polímero alquídico modificado con componente acrílico, un polímero alquídico modificado con silicona-componente acrílico, o una mezcla de los mismos. La composición de recubrimiento basada en agua resultante incluye aproximadamente 2 a aproximadamente 30 % en peso de una o más cargas aislantes térmicas, siendo el resto la dispersión con contenido en alquido, de modo que la composición de recubrimiento contiene aproximadamente 30 a aproximadamente 80% en peso del agua y aproximadamente 2 a aproximadamente 50% en peso del polímero con contenido en alquido. El recubrimiento aplicado a partir de la misma exhibe al menos una de las siguientes propiedades: una conductividad térmica que es inferior a 100 mW/mK; una retención de peso de al menos 70% después de calentarse hasta 400°C, según se mide por análisis termogravimétrico (TGA) con una tasa de calentamiento de 20°C/min; o una pérdida de peso de menos de 50% hasta una temperatura de 470°C tal como se mide por el TGA.
