Abstract

Se elabora una fibra con un polímero de polibenzimidazol (PBI) como una absorción de ácido fosfórico (APU) en el intervalo de 1 a 25% (fibra de PBI-p); la fibra de PBI-p puede tener un LOI ?_ 50% y/o una temperatura de descomposición térmica inicial en aire de 555°C; un método para elaborar una fibra de polibenzimidazol fosfonado comprende los pasos de: hilar una resina de PBI no tratada en una fibra de PBI; tratar la fibra de PBI con ácido fosfórico, y con do obtener una fibra de PM con 1 a 25% en peso de APU de ácido fosfórico.
