Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un proceso para preparar un diéster de ácido tereftálico al hacer reaccionar ácido tereftálico con por lo menos un alcohol. En dicho proceso, el ácido tereftálico se suspende en el alcohol en un tanque de dispersión. La suspensión preliminar se hace pasar desde el tanque de dispersión a un reactor y se la hace reaccionar en presencia de un catalizador de esterificación. El agua de reacción se remueve por destilación junto con el vapor como alcohol-agua azeotrópico, el vapor se condensa por lo menos parcialmente, se separa el condensado en una fase acuosa y una fase orgánica y se conduce la fase orgánica a través de una columna en la que al menos parte de los vapores se dirigen contra corriente hacia la fase orgánica y se recolecta la fase orgánica en la región inferior de la columna y se dirige por lo menos parcialmente al tanque de dispersión.
