Abstract
Se preparan alcoholes por medio de acoplamiento reductor electroquímico de un compuesto vinílico aromático y un compuesto carbonílico en un procedimiento que comprende electrolizar una solución electrolítica en una celda electroquímica, la solución electrolítica comprende el compuesto vinílico aromático, el compuesto carbonílico y un solvente prótico no acuoso, tal como el metanol, en el que la solución electrolítica está en contacto con un cátodo basado en carbono. El estireno se hace reaccionar con acetona con el fin de preparar 2-metil-4-fenil-2-butanol.
