Abstract

Se describe un método para acilación catalizada con ácido de una isohexida. El método implica una reacción de una isohexida y un exceso de ácido carboxílico, en presencia de un catalizador de ácido de Lewis o ácido de Brønsted. Uno o más de ácido de Lewis y/o ácido de Brønsted pueden efectuar alta conversión de isohexidas en los mono y diésteres de ácido 2-ethilhexanoico correspondientes con una regioselectividad superior pronunciada de exo-OH con respecto a endo-OH de la isohexida en el producto. Las especies de ácido catalíticas particulares incluyen cloruro de circonio (ZrC14) y ácido fosfónico (H3PO3), que manifiestan una razón de reactividad exo:endo de aproximadamente 5:1 y 4:1, respectivamente.
