Abstract
Se proveen microorganismos fotosintéticos mutantes con menor clorofila y mayor eficacia fotosintética. Los mutantes tienen un fenotipo aclimatado a alta luz bloqueado, donde muchos de los parámetros fotosintéticos característicos de células de tipo salvaje aclimatadas a alta luz se encuentran en los mutantes LIHLA al aclimatarse a baja luz, como menor clorofila, menor NPQ, mayor qP, mayor Ek, mayor Pmáx por unidad de clorofila con poca o ninguna reducción de Pmáx por célula, y mayores velocidades de transporte de electrones a través del fotosistema II en un amplio rango de intensidades de luz. En la presente se proporcionan construcciones para atenuar o alterar genes para generar mutantes con el fenotipo LIHLA. También se proveen métodos para cultivar mutantes LIHLA para la producción de biomasa u otros productos.
