Abstract

Se describe la composición para el recubrimiento de una superficie pretendida para exponerse a una fundición metálica. La composición consiste esencialmente de: 8-18% en peso de un componente refractario; 50-75% en peso de solvente, de preferencia agua; 10-20% en peso de un aglutinante inorgánico; 0-10% en peso, de preferencia 2-10% en peso de un aglutinante orgánico; 0.3-7% en peso, de preferencia 2-6% en peso, más preferiblemente, 3-5% en peso de pirita; y opcionalmente hasta 10% en peso, de preferencia hasta 5% en peso de un aditivo o aditivos adicionales. La composición resulta en un recubrimiento en una superficie, cuyo recubrimiento es capaz de reducir el contenido de magnesio elemental disuelto en una fundición metálica a la cual se expone la superficie.
