Abstract

La invención está dirigida a la fabricación de fertilizantes comerciales que tienen niveles de nitrógeno suplementado con sustancias orgánicas, por ejemplo, 16-0,5-2-17-3-14 (N-P-K-S-Fe-compuestos orgánicos, en peso seco). El proceso produce el tratamiento de la materia orgánica con ácido concentrado que calienta una mezcla de fertilizante lo que causa la hidrólisis de diversos polímeros orgánicos que pueden estar presentes. Una mezcla de biosólidos se inyecta posteriormente de forma secuencial con una base de nitrógeno bajo condiciones controladas. La materia orgánica resultante licuada y esterilizada a continuación es distribuida sobre material reciclado para la producción de gránulos en un granulador antes del secado final en que éstos contienen más de 98 por ciento de sólidos. Debido a que el proceso permite la adición controlada de ácidos y amoníaco, se pueden alcanzar los niveles deseados de los componentes. Por ejemplo, fertilizantes con alto contenido de nitrógeno pueden contener cantidades variables de fosfato o de hierro. Además, el proceso es escalable, el olor está controlado y es seguro, por lo cual permite la ubicación de las instalaciones de procesamiento de biosólidos en la mayoría de los lugares deseados, sin afectar el medio ambiente o sin generar molestia en las comunidades locales. Además, el fertilizante de la invención cuando se aplica sobre los cultivos proporciona un perfil dual de liberación de nitrógeno. Después de la aplicación al suelo, el fertilizante de la invención libera un bolo inmediato de nitrógeno, similar al del sulfato de amonio tradicional, que es seguido por una liberación lenta y continua de nitrógeno normalmente a lo largo de una temporada de cultivo.
