Abstract
La invención proporciona métodos para modificar genéticamente plantas que tienen deposición de lignina o deposición de xilano que es sustancialmente localizada en los vasos de tejido de xilema en la planta. La invención también proporciona métodos para modificar genéticamente plantas para incrementar la producción de un producto biosintético deseado, por ejemplo, para tener deposición incrementada de pared celular secundaria o acumulación incrementada de cera/cutina. Las plantas modificadas genéticamente de la presente invención tienen uso en la producción de bioenergía, por ejemplo, mejorando la densidad y la digestibilidad de biomasa derivada de la planta y mejorando los requerimientos de uso de agua.
