Abstract

La invención se refiere a un sensor (1) para medir el nivel de la superficie de un metal en fase líquida en una planta para colada continua incluyendo una lingotera que tiene una cara superior en la cual desemboca una abertura (4), en la cual se alimenta el metal líquido, caracterizado en que el sensor incluye: una bobina de excitación de aire (7) perpendicular a la cara superior de la lingotera e instalada cercana a la abertura, energizada por una corriente para generar un campo magnético cuyas líneas de campo se propagan a lo largo de las líneas de campo superiores alejadas de la lingotera y a lo largo de las líneas de campo inferiores cubriendo la cara superior de la lingotera y la superficie del metal fundido; una bobina de recepción de aire inferior (8) paralela a la bobina de excitación, en la cual se genera un voltaje inducido por la acción de las líneas de campo inferiores, en donde las últimas pueden modificarse por una variación del nivel de la superficie del metal fundido; y una bobina de recepción de aire superior (9) paralela a la bobina de excitación, y sobrepuesta a la bobina de recepción inferior, y teniendo una geometría y características idénticas a aquellas de la última, en donde el voltaje inducido se genera por la acción de las líneas de campo superiores, las últimas estando substancialmente libres de perturbaciones generadas por la superficie del metal fundido.
