Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un método para preparar un catalizador que comprende, envejecer un soporte de sílice en una solución alcalina para producir un soporte de sílice envejecido alcalino, remover al menos una porción de la solución alcalina del soporte de sílice envejecido alcalino, para producir un soporte de sílice seco y activar el soporte de sílice para producir una composición catalizadora, en donde el envejecimiento alcalino reduce el área de superficie del soporte de sílice a menos de aproximadamente 50% del valor original y en donde la activación del soporte de sílice se lleva a cabo en lotes de igual a o mayor de aproximadamente 500 lbs (226.8 kilogramos), por un periodo de tiempo de menos de aproximadamente 8 horas. Un método para preparar un polímero que comprende, envejecimiento alcalino de un material de soporte de sílice, agregar cromo al material de soporte de sílice previo al envejecimiento alcalino, después del envejecimiento alcalino, o ambos, para formar un soporte de cromo-sílice, activar rápidamente el soporte de cromo-sílice para producir un catalizador de polimerización de olefina activad, poner en contacto el catalizador de polimerización de olefina activado con al menos un monómero en una zona de reacción bajo condiciones adecuadas para producir un polímero, y recuperar el polímero.
