Abstract

La presente invención proporciona métodos y aparatos para la preparación de fertilizantes de nitrógeno que incluye nitrato de amonio, urea nitrato de amonio, y/o amoniaco, a presión y temperatura baja, preferente a temperatura y presión ambientales, utilizando una fuente de carbono, una fuente de nitrógeno, y/o una fuente de hidrógeno o equivalente de hidrógeno. Implementar electrolito que sirve como un portador de carga iónica, (I) nitrato de amonio se produce mediante la reducción de una fuente de nitrógeno en el cátodo y la oxidación de fuente de nitrógeno en el ánodo, (2) se produce urea o sus isómeros a través de la reducción catódica simultanea de una fuente de carbono y fuente de nitrógeno;(3) se produce amoniaco mediante la reducción de una fuente de nitrógeno en el cátodo y la oxidación de una fuente de hidrógeno o un equivalente de hidrogeno tal como monóxido de carbono o una mezcla de monóxido e hidrogeno en el ánodo; (4) se produce urea nitrato de amonio mediante la reducción catódica simultanea de una fuente de carbono y una fuente de nitrógeno, y la oxidación anódica de una fuente de nitrógeno. El electrolito puede ser cuoso, o no acuoso o sólido.
