Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a procesos para fabricar una estructura tipo panal que comprende celdas que tienen bordes que forman una cara de la estructura tipo panal; la cara definida por una pluralidad de puntos tiene un área de curvatura, caracterizada además porque por los menos dos de los puntos están ubicados en distintos planos tangenciales; la invención comprende las etapas de: a) unir una pluralidad de láminas a lo largo de líneas paralelas de adhesivo; las láminas comprenden de 5 a 50 partes en peso de material termoplástico que tiene una temperatura de fusión de, 120 ºC a 350 ºC y de 50 a 95 partes en peso de fibra de módulo alto que tiene un módulo de 600 gramos por denier (550 gramos por dtex) o mayor, en base a la cantidad total de material termoplástico y fibra de módulo alto en las paredes; b) separar las láminas unidas en direcciones perpendiculares al plano de las láminas para formar una estructura tipo panal que tiene celdas; c) calentar la estructura tipo panal para ablandar el material termoplástico; d) flexionar, moldear o conformar la estructura tipo panal en un molde o sobre una forma que tiene un área de curvatura; y e) enfriar la estructura tipo panal para mantener la forma del área de curvatura del molde o la forma. Otros procesos para fabricar una estructura tipo panal incluyen las etapas de impregnación, etapa B, y/o curado de la estructura tipo panal con resina. Esta invención también se refiere a una estructura tipo panal conformada fabricada de acuerdo con estos procesos, en donde después de la etapa de enfriamiento menos del 25 por ciento de las celdas de la estructura tipo panal en el área de curvatura tienen un ángulo reentrante mayor que 180º.
